هددت المملكة العربية السعودية بسحب دبلوماسييها من طهران إذا لم تقم السلطات الإيرانية بتحسين مستوى حمايتهم، على ما أعلن الأحد وكيل وزير الخارجية السعودى الأمير تركى بن محمد بن سعود.
وقال الأمير تركى للصحافيين "أتمنى ألّا تضطر الرياض لسحب بعثتها الدبلوماسية من طهران بعد تكرار الاعتداءات عليها من قبل المتظاهرين" وفي حال عدم اتخاذ الإجراءات اللازمة لحمايتها".
